Carmelo Anthony three pointer to the head
Blazers forward and former Knicks star Carmelo Anthony praised Tom Thibodeau for the job he’s done in New York so far in the early goings this season.
Anthony, who played for the Knicks from 2011-2017, has been observing the work Thibodeau’s done this season and likes what he sees out of this new look Knicks squad.
“I think we all know what Thibs brings to the game,” Anthony said. “It’s just his intensity and his focus and his attention to detail. Any team he’s ever coached have played the same way.
“They play hard, they leave it all out there on the court, they never give up, they never quit and regardless of the outcome, you see that with this young team that he has now.”
Rolling off LeBron James‘ and De’Aaron Fox‘s comments on the NBA moving forward with an All-Star game this season despite COVID-19 health and safety concerns, Anthony gave his own thoughts on the situation.
“I don’t think it’s right,” Anthony said. “I don’t think that we need it right now. It’ll be good to recognize those who got chosen to be an All-Star, I think they deserve that recognition, but I think it’s just a little bit too much in a short period of time.
“But at the end of the day…I don’t really know the details what’s really happening with that. So if they think it’s the right thing to do, then it’s the right thing to do. They know best, not me.”
Knicks fans are hopeful that Julius Randle‘s stunning start to the season brings him an All-Star berth — and that they’ll be able to see him play in the game. But first he’s got to make the roster.
