Davis Bertans takes jab at NBA 2K for 3-point shooter rankings originally appeared on NBC Sports Washington
Davis Bertans got his money, but the Wizards’ sharpshooter still doesn’t have everyone’s attention.
The Latvian forward signed a five-year, $80 million extension with Washington this offseason after shooting 42.4 percent from the 3-point line in 2019-20, which was tied with the Brooklyn Nets’ Joe Harris for the sixth-highest mark in the NBA.
It was no small sample size, either. Bertans was one of only eight players to make at least 200 shots from behind the arc, making him one of the most effective high-volume 3-point shooters the league has to offer.
Yet, that apparently hasn’t translated into a high NBA 2K ranking.
The ranking, originally posted by Hoops Plug on Instagram, showed the top 10 highest ratings for 3-point shooters in NBA 2K21. Bertans was nowhere to be found, as he was evidently edged out by No. 8 Derrick Walton Jr. (41.5% career 3-point shooter), No, 9 George Hill (38.4%) and No. 10 Doug McDermott (41.2%).
With Russell Westbrook set to give the Wizards’ offense a boost after they traded John Wall and a protected first-round pick to get him, the spotlight should shine on Bertans a bit more. For now, he has a bit of a chip on his shoulder looking to prove he’s among the best 3-point shooters in the NBA.
